On the road again

Several of us traveled to Austin, Texas last month for a great visit with our new client, Dover Fueling Solutions. DFS, like some of our other clients, is a manufacturing company adding marketing to a traditionally sales-focused business model. We had very productive meetings and ate at several amazing restaurants, including a classic steakhouse (recommended by our client) overlooking Lake Travis, where we enjoyed a delicious meal and a beautiful sunset.

In April, Sheryl went to Richmond, VA to meet with the SunTrust Marketing team. After a productive day of meetings and brainstorming, the team enjoyed a relaxing dinner at Tazza Kitchen, located in Scott’s Addition, Richmond’s fastest growing neighborhood. It’s always so much fun to see our out-of-town clients in person!

During the same trip, Sheryl was able to surprise her daughter Kalli (a student at the College of William & Mary) with a party on her 21st birthday (thanks to some top-secret help from Kalli’s friends). Among many interesting events that evening (never a dull moment with a dozen college students), was indulging in a flaming Greek cheese dip called Saganaki. The evening was a perfect ending to a great trip.

In other news…

A little online quiz recently circulated around the office. This one’s from Adobe and it tests your creative “type.” It’s a fun quiz if you get the chance (and the short videos and animations are kind of cute). But one of the most interesting things we discovered was that the nine of us who took the quiz represented seven of the eight total creative types. Who knew we were such a diverse group of creative thinkers? Overall, there were some surprising results, along with some not-so surprising ones. (Agency founding partners Megan and Fred are both “Visionaries.” Well, duh.) So, what creative type are you? Take the quiz to find out!

Mark caught the Rock Bottom Remainders show at First Avenue on May 10. Watching all those big name authors (including Stephen King, Amy Tan, Scott Turow, Dave Barry, and Mitch Albom) rock out onstage was definitely a fun once-in-a-lifetime experience. But as far as musical talent goes? Well, let’s just say it’s a good thing they all have day jobs.
