PROBLEM
As part of the YMCA of the North, Y Adventure is best known for their phenomenal summer youth camps. Consequently, these camps fill up fast, but the other outdoor adventures they offer for adults and families do not. Our client had big goals for the year, and they were only going to hit them if they could increase enrollment in these lesser-known activities.

Inspired by a high-end catalog they received from The Swedish Institute, our client had the idea of doing something similar—something that would make a big splash and have a year-long shelf life in both print and digital. Like all nonprofits, their budget was limited, and everyone knew that upscale, multi-page printed pieces weren’t cheap.

SOLUTION
Due to space limitations, it quickly became clear we couldn’t feature every outing. Instead, we highlighted a few select activities for each season, making it more of a magazine than a catalog. To squelch concerns about some programs not making it into the piece, we added a single-page grid that included every available event. And we utilized client-supplied images as much as possible to highlight real-life experiences and keep image costs down.

The final printed piece was mailed to program participants, distributed to donors and other partnering organizations, and a digital version was made for the website.

RESULTS
Our clients were over the moon with praise and gratitude for the way the magazine turned out. The CEO felt it brought their vision to life and was a great step in building momentum toward reaching their goals.
